Setting Up A SilencerShop.com Account (or, Getting Your First Suppressor)

UPDATE: Sutpen’s Hundred is now FULLY APPROVED with SilencerShop and ATF to process all NFA Item (Suppressors/Silencers!) via ATF’s E-Forms process. The result is that instead of waiting 13+ months to get your suppressor/silencer, it’s only 6-8 months. This is a game changer and makes suppressor/silencer ownership open to lots of new folks. If this is you, follow the instructions below to get the process started for YOUR first suppressor/silencer!

If you have not purchased a suppressor, silencer, or other NFA item before, using Silencer Shop to process the paperwork is without question the best way to do this.  Silencer Shop is a company that sells Silencers, Suppressors, and other NFA items to retail customers and sells them at wholesale to dealers. Silencer Shop also has a large business processing the paperwork for all these items, and they are recognized as the best at this.

Sutpen’s Hundred is a Silencer Shop dealer and can facilitate all of the above for you, complete with one-time invoicing, for a silencer, application fees, fees for trust creations, and any other processing fees.  Here are the steps that first-time buyers need to do in order to start the process and get the clock running on their paperwork – and get their suppressor, silencer, or SBR in their hands ASAP:

  1. Go to silencershop.com and create an account – simply an email and password.
  2. Use their location finder and set Sutpen’s Hundred as your preferred dealer – you can search Zip Code 85012.
  3. Forward the email address you used for your profile to [email protected].
  4. Download the SliencerShop app on your phone, and access it using your newly created account credentials.
  5. Fill out your profile as much as possible – mainly this means adding a photo.
  6. Decide your Trust preferences – the SilencerShop’s Single Shot Trust vs. Single Shot Unlimited vs. a trust you pay an attorney to draft.  To help you decide what is best for you, read this blog post and let me know via [email protected].  FWIW, 90% or more of my customers opt for Single Shot Trusts each time they get a suppressor and the rest are on the Single Shot Unlimited plan.  The only difference is the economies of scale that apply. If you plan on owning a couple NFA items in their lifetime, SingleShot Unlimited is the smart money option. Sutpen’s Hundred can do it either way, but we strongly recommend one of these two paths. We don’t see any advantage to paying an attorney to draft a custom trust for you unless you have a very unique circumstance. When you’ve made your decision, let us know your trust preferences via email ([email protected]).
  7. Go to eforms.atf.gov and create an account using the green “register” button at the very bottom of the page. Be sure to remember and/or keep your User ID, password, and PIN in a safe place. You will need ALL THREE of these later on when we submit your application for a Form 4, so do not lose/forget them! Also, it is *critical* to use the exact same email address and other personal profile information in both e-forms and SilencerShop accounts!!!
  8. PHYSICALLY go to any Silencer Shop kiosk in the USA. You can find them using the location finder on silencershop.com.  Using the Kiosk, complete your profile (scanning in fingerprints, etc).

ONCE YOU HAVE SENT YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS AND TRUST PREFERENCES TO [email protected] (aka, steps 1-6), we can immediately assign silencers and other NFA items to you and effectively “start” the paperwork once I know your item’s specific serial number(s) – usually as soon as the item is ordered or shipped.

It is important to note that this is basically a “push” process at that point, meaning that your paperwork will file immediately without any need to initiate it further, BUT WILL BE HELD UP IF YOU HAVE NOT COMPLETED STEP 8! Only after step 8 is completed can your paperwork get submitted to the government.  Once it’s submitted to the government, you will get an email with a Docusign link for every NFA item (suppressor, etc) you purchase. Completing this Docusign is how you know the clock has started.

That’s it. You only have to do this once – for the first NFA Item you buy.

Once this is done, it’s easy to apply for and obtain all necessary approvals to own and use your silencer. Use THIS LINK to check on wait times for the ATF to process your application.

Email us if you have any questions.
